TSS Franchisee Success Stories

Rachel Sherman, TSS Franchise Owner of South Florida, reflects on her career in TSS franchising

After graduating high school, Rachel Sherman moved to Florida to continue her education at the Art Institute for Photography. Never one for idleness, she began simultaneously working at the local TSS Photography.

“The more I worked for TSS, the more I realized opportunities to expand,” she says.

In 2002, Rachel’s vision and efforts landed her the opportunity to become partner of the company. Fast forward 15 years to 2017 and she was appointed the sole owner of the company. Under Rachel’s leadership, the business has grown in its sports and school photography offerings — two distinct areas with differing skill set and clientele.

“The biggest thing in business ownership is that you need a support group,” Rachel says. “Whether it’s your family or friends, or a franchise.”

She’s lucky enough to have both. Her dad, who was involved in franchises her whole life, instilled in Rachel a solid work ethic she carries to this day. “At 13, I started working for my dad,” she says. “My friends were out riding bikes and going to games, and I was earning money. I liked that. I like to be independent.”

Rachel is quick to note the camaraderie amongst her franchise network too. Other nearby TSS owners share backdrops and lights for photoshoots, supporting one another in their individual projects and unique business plans. “It’s like a family dynamic,” says Rachel. “You’re doing what you want to do, and you have a strong support group.”

During her tenure as a TSS franchise owner, Rachel has garnered numerous accolades for business ownership, leadership, and franchising, making a mark at both local and national levels.

Karl Alamares, TSS Photography Owner in North Texas, on his first event with tss

Sometimes, opportunity knocks when we least expect it. For Karl, it came in the form of a call from the President of a local little league, expressing interest in team and individual pictures. Here was a golden opportunity, but with a twist: Karl had never conducted a photoshoot before. He was just getting accustomed to our software, and to top it off, he had no staff!

However, with determination and our dedicated support, Karl's journey began. We stood by him every step of the way, assisting in staff recruitment, acquainting him with CORE (our proprietary photo software), coordinating photoshoot logistics with the league president, and orchestrating emails to notify parents about the upcoming event. The endeavor was vast, stretching over multiple weekends.

Despite facing challenges like a rainout during the opening weekend, which could easily have doused the spirits of many, Karl remained resilient. His enthusiasm remained unshaken, ensuring that the event would not only proceed but also thrive. In the end, hundreds of young players posed, smiled, and left with memories captured forever. And for Karl? He tallied an impressive earnings of over $10,500 from his debut event, averaging a commendable $37.59 in sales per person photographed!

Karl's story isn't just about numbers; it's a testament to the power of determination, adaptability, and the right support system. Its a good example of what's achievable when just starting out.
